Playing the fish: Although it seems the thing to do to play the fish on the reel, I would venture to say more fish are lost trying to reel slack line fast enough to keep up with a fish running straight to you. Strip the line until you feel that it's taut then reel in slack line (holding some pressure as you load the reel). Then, that beautiful disc drag can take over.
